How to Create a Restaurant Reel With AI
5 min read
A step-by-step walkthrough: pick the promotion, write a tight brief, generate, review, and post — without filming or editing.
Most restaurants know reels work and still post them rarely, because filming and editing takes time nobody has during service. An AI reel maker removes that step: you describe what you want to promote, and the tool writes the script, generates the visuals, records a voiceover, and adds captions and music. Here is how to do it well.
1. Decide what the reel is for
One reel, one job. Before you touch any tool, pick a single promotion. The ones that consistently work for restaurants:
- This weekend's special dish or thali
- A new item on the menu
- A combo or family-pack offer
- A festival menu (Diwali, Eid, Christmas, regional festivals)
- A delivery offer to push Swiggy and Zomato orders
- A limited-time discount that ends soon
Resist the urge to cram three offers into one video. A reel that says one clear thing gets acted on; a reel that lists everything gets scrolled past.
2. Write a brief the AI can use
The brief is where you control the outcome. A good brief for a weekend special looks like: 'Weekend special at [restaurant name]: [dish], available Saturday and Sunday only, [price]. Cosy family restaurant in [area]. Tone: warm and appetising.' Include the offer, the timing, the price if there is one, your location, and the tone you want. Leave out anything you do not actually want mentioned.
3. Add your own photos if you have them
AI-generated food visuals are good for atmosphere, but a photo of your actual dish makes the reel unmistakably yours. If you have even one clear, well-lit photo of the item you are promoting, upload it and let the tool build it into the reel.
4. Generate, then actually review it
Generation takes about a minute. When it is done, watch it once as a customer would. Check three things: does the first two seconds make you want to keep watching, is the offer stated clearly, and is the call to action obvious. If a line is off, regenerate that part rather than starting over.
5. Post it where your customers are
The output is a vertical 9:16 video. Post it as an Instagram Reel and a Facebook reel, put it on your WhatsApp status, and add it to your Google Business Profile. Write a short caption with your location and a link or phone number. Pin it for the duration of the offer.
Do this every week
The value is not one great reel — it is being able to post one every week without it becoming a project. Pick next week's promotion now, and it becomes a ten-minute habit instead of a quarterly scramble.
